* QUINTA DO LAGO

Quinta do Lago, the exclusive residential and recreational estate, situated in 645 hectares of verdant countryside and pine forests bordering the Atlantic Ocean and part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park.

Since it’s creation in 1972, the development concept of Quinta do Lago has been one of low density. Even when fully developed, the constructed area will occupy only eight percent of the whole estate. Special attention is paid to the environment because 18.4 hectares of the Ria Formosa Natural Park falls whit in it’s boundaries. This tidal inlet is the UNESCO protected home of migratory birds and a “wetland” of world importance. It’s one of the last unspoilt coastal zones in Europe.

VALE DO LOBO

Vale do Lobo was the first development in the Algarve. It was founded in 1962 by Trusthouse Forte PLC and Costain PLC, both well-known multi nationals.
At that time the Algarve was mainly inhabited by farmers and fishermen. It was only after the establishment of Vale do Lobo, its five star Meridien Hotel Dona Filipa and the first golf course, that Faro Airport was opened.

Whilst looking for a holiday home, Mr Sander van Gelder, a Dutch entrepreneur, discovered Vale do Lobo, saw its potential and took over Vale do Lobo in 1977. As the new proprietor, his vision has helped develop the resort into a unique haven. Vale do Lobo is approximately three times the size of the Principality of Monaco. Residents and visitors are attracted by the resort's self-contained community together with its range of exclusive properties and excellent facilities and services.
With continuing investment and improvement over the years, Vale do Lobo, has maintained its position as one of the foremost luxury resorts in Europe. It is now the largest luxury resort in Portugal.
