The pretty fishing village of Carvoeiro has for years been a popular holiday destination for the Portugese. With the arrival of quality villas in and around its narrow streets, built to blend in with the traditional Portugese archicture, Carvoeiro is now being discovered by the rest of us.

Although small, Carvoeiro is well served with restaurants, bars and shops. It has its own horeshoe shaped beach, and there are many more beautiful isolated sandy beaches nearby to the east of the village.

Some of the spectacular rock formations and caves that are associated with the Algarve can be found along this part of the coast. Some can be accessed by road, but to get the full effect, a boat trip along the coast is recommended.

Carvoeiro's central location on the Algarve coast also make it a good base for exploring the region as a whole, with Lagos and the pretty, less developed western Algarve within easy driving distance.
